aequifasciata, Symphysodon discus var. Pellegrin 1904:250 Santarém, Amazonas, Brazil. Lectotype: MNHN 1902-0130. Paralectotypes: MNHN 1902-0134 (1) Tefé, 0135 (1) Tefé. Type catalog: Blanc 1962:222 .
Symphysodon is masculine,
aequifasciata is apparently an adjective; it should be
aequifasciatus. Lectotype designation by Géry & Bleher 2005:135 invalid as the specimen is not clearly identified (either MNHN 1902-0134 or 1902-0135); perhaps confused in Bleher et al. 2007:172 . See errata in v. 13 (no. 1):42. Ready et. al. 2006:207 selected MNHN 1902-0130 as lectotype. See also discussion in Bleher & Bailey 2011:1306 . •Valid as

Kaj, the scientist have now 4 species, see http://research.calacademy.org/redirect?url=http://researcharchive.calacademy.org/research/Ichthyology/catalog/fishcatmain.asp
You see now they (for the time being) accepted 4 species, all 3 as we classified them remain, and the so called fake name tarzoo (which never existed, except for in a popular magazine and written clearly "Unofficiual name" and no types exist anywhere). That is one has just added a 4th species. If one day the Zoological Commity makes an decvission (if at all ever), than maybe there is a change. Normally now the 4th (tarzoo), if valid, should be restricted to the Jutaí River basin, as the Neotype they elected for "tarzoo" is from that river only (and far away from the one published in the popular magazine Tropical by Lyons 1960 - publication date). So if one wants can name the Green from Jutai S. tarzoo ...., but no other Green Discus. See also the correct write-up in DSCUSBOOK02, which actually Sven said to me "it is correct".
